The Nile River
Egypt is located in the midst of the Sahara desert. Most of North Africa is a barren waste land except for a few coastal areas. The only exception is the Nile River. The Greek historian Herodotus wrote that “Egypt is the gift of the Nile”. Without the Nile River Ancient Egypt could not have survived.
